For the last thirty or more years, Bingo at Wendron CC has been organized by Betty and Denis Floyd. The final bingo session, for the year, on Saturday 18th March, is also the last time when they will take charge of proceedings. The committee wishes to place on record its thanks for all the efforts of these two loyal, hard-working club members who have given up their 1st and 3rd Saturday nights of the winter months, for so many years, venturing out in wind, rain and cold in order to provide a evening-out for Wendron's bingo enthusiasts. There are one or two plans to make the evening a bit special and all current and former bingo supporters are encouraged to attend.
40th Anniversary of Wendron CC at Underlane
Wendron CC moved from Bellevue Farm to Underlane for the start of the 1977 cricket season, having purchased the land earlier in the same year. In 2017 the club celebrates its 40th Anniversary at Underlane. with a weekend of commemorative events. On Saturday 17th June, the Cornwall Cricket League match will be followed by a reunion of current and former players, wives, officials, tea ladies and supporters. On the Sunday (the 18th) there will be a special cricket match between the Kevin Williamson Chairman's XI and the Barry Johns Lifetime President's XI. More details of this to follow, but please keep the date free in your diaries!
Johnny Cowling Comedy Night
There's a big night of comedy coming up at the club on Friday 3rd March. Contact the bar (01209 860946) for tickets (£10) but, be warned, they have been selling well so it may, already, be too late!
Don't forget to encourage cricketing friends to join the club to strengthen our selection options for the season ahead. Please let me have details of any new players ASAP so I can get them properly registered.
Cricket Force Day
This year's Cricket Force Day is planned for the weekend of 1st-2nd April and the project is to give the function room a fresh coat of paint. If we supply the labour, the ECB will buy all the paint! And it also means that the club will look nice, inside and out, for the 40th Anniversary and for all those vital fundraising functions. So we need volunteers for that weekend!
Cornwall Cricket League season starts Sat 22nd April
Nets continue every Friday evening at Falmouth School, until 31st March, 7.00-9.00 p.m.
